Madrid's most storied cocktail bar — opened in 1931, patronised by Hemingway, Buñuel, and Ava Gardner, and still shaking drinks on the same Art Deco bar top on Gran Vía. A genuine museum piece that still functions as a working cocktail bar.

The name is literal: display cases of vintage cocktail memorabilia and photos of famous regulars line the walls, worth a slow look even before the first drink arrives. It gets busy and clubby after midnight on weekends, with a small dance floor at the back; earlier evening is the better time for actually appreciating the Deco interior and a well-made classic cocktail. There's a modest cover charge after a certain hour on weekend nights.
