Privacy Policy

Get Madrid ("we", "us") publishes editorial travel content about Madrid and provides a free itinerary-planning tool. This page explains what data the site actually collects, why, and what happens to it — written to match what the site's code actually does, not a generic template.

What we collect

The itinerary planner. The stops you add to your itinerary, and your pace/focus/neighbourhood preferences, are stored only in your own browser (local storage). They are not sent to our servers unless you use the "email itinerary" feature below, and they're removed if you clear your browser's site data.

Emailing yourself an itinerary. If you enter your email address to send yourself a copy of your itinerary, that address is used only to send that one email and is not added to a mailing list, sold, or shared with any third party.

Analytics. We collect anonymous, aggregated usage data — which pages are visited, which itinerary options are chosen — through privacy-first analytics that does not use tracking cookies and does not follow you across other websites. We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or similar cross-site advertising trackers.

Cookies

Get Madrid does not set its own tracking or advertising cookies. If you click through to a partner site to book a tour, table, or ticket (see below), that site is a separate service with its own cookies and privacy policy — we don't control what happens there.

Third parties

Booking partners. Booking and ticket links on this site go to Viator, GetYourGuide, Tiqets, Headout, TheFork, KKday, and Context Travel. Clicking one of these links takes you to that company's own website, governed by their own privacy policy — see our Terms for how these relationships work and are disclosed.

Maps. The interactive planner map loads map tiles from OpenStreetMap and CARTO. Loading a map tile shares your IP address with them, in the same way any embedded image does.

Hosting. The site and its planner API are hosted on infrastructure that, like any web host, logs standard server request data (IP address, browser type, timestamp) for security and reliability.

Your rights

If you're in the EU or UK, you have the right under GDPR to ask what personal data we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. Since we don't maintain user accounts or mailing lists, in practice the only personal data we're likely to hold is an itinerary email address if you used that feature recently — contact us below and we'll act on your request.

Children

Get Madrid is not directed at children and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page if what the site actually does changes. Check back periodically — there's no separate notification for minor changes.
