Segovia & Alcázar Day Trip
sol-centroTier: mid-range
A near-perfectly preserved Roman aqueduct running straight through the town centre, and a turreted Alcázar castle said to have inspired Walt Disney's Cinderella Castle. Add a plate of the region's famous roast suckling pig for lunch and it's a full day well spent.
The aqueduct is free to view at any time and most striking approached from Plaza del Azoguejo, where its full 28-metre height suddenly appears at the end of the street. The Alcázar's tower involves a narrow spiral climb but rewards it with a view across the Castilian plain. High-speed trains from Madrid's Chamartín station take under thirty minutes, making this an easy pairing even with a late-morning start.
