The Hat Rooftop

A hostel sun terrace by day that turns into one of Madrid's most easygoing rooftop bars by night — a couple of minutes' walk from Plaza Mayor, with none of the entry fees or dress codes of the hotel rooftops nearby.

This is a genuinely budget-friendly rooftop — cocktails run in the €8–12 range, well under most hotel-rooftop prices in the centre, and there's no cover charge. It's open to non-guests as well as hostel residents. Weekend afternoons sometimes run barbecues and showcooking on the terrace; check the hostel's own booking page for event dates.
