Templo de Debod

malasana
Kategorie: free

A genuine 2nd-century BC Egyptian temple, dismantled stone by stone and gifted to Spain by Egypt in 1968 for help saving Nubian monuments from the Aswan Dam floodwaters. It now sits on a hilltop above Parque del Oeste with one of the city's best sunset views over the Sierra de Guadarrama.

The surrounding reflecting pools and the temple's silhouette make this one of the most reliable free sunset spots in Madrid — arrive thirty minutes before sunset in summer, since the terraces fill up. The interior, with its original reliefs, is open on a limited free-entry schedule with a reduced-capacity queue; the exterior and gardens are open and free at all hours. It's a fifteen-minute walk from Plaza de España, easily combined with a visit there.
